Emotions and steps forward for Lennox Racing Team in the 34th edition of Trofeo Margutti in Lonato
Trofeo Andrea Margutti is always a very special event. Every year it’s joined by more than 300 top-quality drivers and it’s a tribute to the Italian driver, who passed away on track while he was doing what he loved the most: living his dream. Our team was represented by Maxim Rehm in KZ2 and Aleksandr Kortenov in Mini Gr3.
A very interesting debut for Rehm. Maxim was able to find the immediate feeling despite his lack of experience with us and started with a more than promising P5 in his qualifying practice series (P9 overall). The German driver turned out to be incredibly fast even in the heats, catching two top 10 placements before some unfortunate situations in the last heat which forced him to settle for P24. On Sunday, after a tricky Prefinal, Rehm literally took the stage in the Final recovering 13 spots and catching a more than deserved final 13th place.
Also, Kortenov did a remarkable job in the Mini category. After some difficulties in a practice round, closed in P21 in his group (p42 overall), Aleksandr did his best last in the heats and fought hard with a lot of more experienced drivers, gaining as much experience as possible at these very high levels. The Russian driver worked hard on finding every bit of performance required and maintained an incredible attitude during the weekend, Kortenov approached the repechage with some ambitions, but unfortunately wasn’t enough to get into the Final.
Jordon Lennox-Lamb, Team Manager: “Trofeo Margutti always remembers the importance of believing in something special, such as our team. Even in this edition, we tried everything we could to help our drivers, who showed also very good things on track. This weekend we haven’t been as fast as we want to be, but very soon we’ll improve all together thanks to our efforts”.
