At the Circuito Internazionale Napoli has decreed the winners of the FIA Karting KZ/KZ2 European Championship. The team was represented by Matteo Viganò in KZ, while in KZ2 by Maxim Rehm, Matheus Morgatto, Jose Gomez Gutierrez, Albin Karlsson, Gabin Leuillet and Jesper Sjöberg.
Complicated weekend for Matteo Viganò in KZ, slowed down by a penalty during the heats. A real shame, considering that the Italian driver did very well in qualifying, getting the 7th fastest time overall. In the heats, Matteo always had the speed to fight in the top 10, but the penalty relegated him to the back of the standings. In the Final, a fantastic comeback of 8 positions allowed Viganò to close the race in the top 10.
Incredible speed for Maxim Rehm in KZ2, one of the absolute protagonists of the Sarno weekend. The young German first got the group Pole Position in qualifying and then fought constantly for the win in all the qualifying heats. Unfortunately, a contact in the Final while fighting for the podium frustrated Maxim’s efforts, but despite this, the German proved to be among the most competitive on the grid.
Excellent growth for Gabin Luillet, constantly fighting for the top 10 in the qualifying heats. The Frenchman gained access to the Final, thwarted by a contact at the start. Good performance for him throughout the weekend. Bad luck for Matheus Morgatto who, despite having the potential to be in the top 20 overall, a penalty relegated him down the standings preventing him from entering the final by a couple of positions.
Despite the difficulty of the track, Gomez, Karlsson and Sjöberg showed great attitude, progressing day after day. Unfortunately for them, they were unable to enter the Final, but their speed was always improving.
Jordon Lennox-Lamb, Team Manager: “I’m very proud of my guys because they did an incredible job again this weekend. Too bad for Maxim because he deserved the podium in the Final, but unfortunately these are also races. I trust this group because I know the potential we have, we must continue on this path.
